New PDF Comment 7: File Attachment

A file attachment comment contains a reference to the electronic file, which is embedded in the PDF file, just like attaching a paper file to another with a paperclip. When the recipient opens this PDF file inside Adobe Reader, he can see the paperclip icon where you have attached the file. If he activates the annotation, he can extract the embedded file and give him an opportunity to view it or store it in the file system. There are property options for file selection, file display name and content text string.

Here is the list of the properties.

Text String The descriptive text relating to the attached file.
Spell Checker Verify the spelling of words in the text string box.
Author The author of the annotation.
Subject Text representing a short description of the subject being addressed by the annotation.
File Display Name The file name inside the attachment. It must have a file type.
File Path name Select a File
Icon Color The color for the icon.
Icon Shape The name of an icon to be used in displaying the annotation. There are 4 shapes: Graph, PushPin, Paperclip and Tag
Opacity The constant opacity value to be used in painting the annotation. This value applies to all visible elements of the annotation in its closed state (including its background and border) but not to the popup window that appears when the annotation is opened. The opacity vary from 0.0 (no contribution) to 1.0 (maximum contribution).

Position (Left, Right, Top, Bottom)

The X and Y coordinate of the box to define the position of the field.

Set this field as default

If set, the new object will have the same properties as this one.
